• Transcript

  If you want to transcript and/or index a original document for the site, send the files to one of the following uploaders. If you are in doubt, send them to one, with CC to the others.
  

  The BELGIUM-ROOTS site uploaders are actually:

  • belgium-roots@advalvas.be (webmaster)
  • picavet@ping.be (co-webmaster)

• Transcript handling

  We do prefer the spreadsheet format Excel 97, with one line for each document line. But other formats (Word document, text file, mail, ..) are also accepted, if they follow the same rule.

  Don't forget to mention the reference of your source (and/or microfilm).

  Don't proofread the original text:

  transcribe the errors as they occur in the original text.

  but feel free to add one or more columns with "Notes"

  Ex:

  Place name written as "Loochristy" will be transcribed as such

  A column "Place Name (current spelling)" could be added with the mention "Lochristi"

• Output

  We will at this moment upload your transcript on our web site.

  And in the future some transcripts will be gradually be available in a database.

• Document Categories

  The following categories _will_ be used:
  • SRC: (partial) transcript of a original source
  • SRCX: Index of a original source (surnames, place names and/or persons)
  • LIB: (partial) transcript of a published source
  • LIBX: Index of a published book (surnames, place names and/or persons)
  • HIS: original description for a place, a group of persons, a meeting, an event, etc ...
  • DESCR: Transcript of a published description for a place, a group of persons, a meeting, an event, etc ...

• Transcription status

  The status of the transcript can be:
  • Working on it
  • New transcriber
  • Existing transcriber - List updated
  • All contributions not yet uploaded
  • All contributions listed
