The Church (constructed in 1870) : Sainte Marie d'Oignies

In the church of this hamel OIGNIES, part of AISEAU-PRESLES, you may see some old tombstones from the XIVthe century, a statue of Notre-dame du Pilier and some relics of the Sainte Marie d'Oignies.
In it also a Chapel with the fault of the Lords of Aiseau.

In OIGNIES in 1192, has been founded, by the senior of the brothers de WALCOURT, a big ABBEY (order of Saint Augustin). The large buildings, partly burned in1973, are still visible and, mostly in good shape.

Hugo, the junior of the de Walcourt's brothers, was a famous goldsmith of the Middle-Age. Some works of HUGO D'OIGNIES are in NAMUR or in the Museum Le LOUVRE in PARIS
