A little about GEMBLOUX
The origine of Gembloux is way back in the Xth century when Saint GUIBERT came in and
founded in a Benedict ABBEY. The monk OLBERT conducted the construction in the roman style
between 1012 and 1048.
There are still some parts of the old fortificated city-walls builded in the the years
1152 and 1158.
A farm-castle (XVIIth century) in Petit-Leez, an other in Sauvenière (from the
XVI/XVIIIth centuries). In Grand-Leez an old windmill and in Lonzée, a Cistercian Abbey
(XVIIIth century) and a windmill of 1741.
