The city of Ghent (dutch: Gent, french: Gand) is the capital of:
- the administrative District Gent
- the judicial District Gent-Eeklo
- the province Oost-Vlaanderen
The city belongs to the Flemish Region, the Flemish Community and the Federal Kingdom of Belgium,
and is situated in the centre of the province, where the river Leie flows in the stream Schelde.
