Present description

Oostakker was a parish, situated North-East of Ghent, during the Ancien Regime and a municipality from 1795 on. It was in 1977 attached to the city Ghent.

And is now a district of the city Ghent.

  The parish Oostakker was before 1795 composed of several fiefs (feudal estates). Some of them where:
  • Maghergoet, a farmstead
  • Achtendries, a castle (18th century) (Dutch)
