Parish Sint-Baafs

Much of the church data has been recorded on microfilm by the LDS. This page contains a list of microfilms available from the Family History Centers regarding the parish registers of Gent, Belgium. These registers contain information on baptisms, marriages and funerals from the period of 1580's to 1800. Hopefully, this list will help you find the films you need to look up old records.

The filmed indices and parish registers are sorted alphabetically by parish name; first by funerals, then by baptisms and finally by marriages. To find ancestors you can proceed as follows:
(Note: Unless you know the church at which the event (baptism, funeral, marriage) was recorded, you will need to search through all records of all churches during the year(s) you think the event may have occured.)

Search the indices for the event, church and year. Once you find the film number, search the film for the family name you are researching. If found, note all references to the records (parish, family name and date). For the film numbers of the indices, click here: Baptisms or Marriages or Funerals

Once you have the parish name and date in hand, you can lookup the actual records. To find the film number for the parish records you need, click here for Baptisms or Marriages or Funerals

The microfilm number consists of two parts: the box/film number followed by a subnummer, which can be found when viewing the film.
