  Tongeren has incorporated the following towns (former municipalities):
  • 1972: Riksingen, Berg, Henis, Koninksem, Neerepen.
  • 1977: Elderen (did in 1970 incorporate Genoelselderen, Membruggen and 's Herenelderen), Haren (did in 1970 incorporate Bommerhoven, Pîringen and Widooie), Kolmont (did in 1970 incorporate Overrepen and Jesseren), Lauw, Mal, Nerem, Rutten, Sluizen, Vreren(did in 1970 incorporate Diets-Heur).
