Hi Everyone,

Several years ago a relative from Hartford City,  IN gave me a flag holder.
It is a round brass marker which is 5 and  3/4 inches in diameter and
attached to a long iron rod.   It represents something Belgian, but I am not
sure what.  Across the top of the circle are the letters S S M.  Around the
bottom of the circle it reads La Prevoyance.  There is a bee relief in the
middle.  I have tried to send a picture but it is not accepted by ROOTS WEB.
I can send a picture if any individual would be interested.  The picture is
in JPEG.  Any help in it its identification would be appreciated.

S S M is the abbreviation of "Société de Secours Mutuel" (Mutual Help Society).
La prévoyance is the name of this society. The honeybee is a commonly used symbol
for this kind of mutual funds Society since the honeybee has a high level of social living.
Prevoyance translates by "foresighting".
