L'an mil huit cent septante-quatre, le treize du mois d'Avril,

a neuf heures du matin Pardevant NOUS, Paul ..., Echevin

et par delegation, officier de l'Etat-Civil de la commune de Courcelles,

Province de Hainaut, est comparu

Leopold Joseph BARRE, age de quarante ans, verrier,domicilie a Courcelles,

qui nous a declare que

l'avant veille a six heures du soir est ne en cette commune,

de lui declarant et de Florentine DELVIGNE, son epouse,

un enfant du sexe masculin qu'il nous a presente et auquel il a donne le

prenom de Jean Baptiste.

Les dites declaration et presentation faites en presence de

Jean Baptiste HAVRY (?) age de vingt-deux ans, verrier et

Alfred BRINAUX, age de vingt-sept ans, domicilies a Courcelles.

Apres lecture du present acte le pere et les temoins l'ont signe avec nous.

Translation (English)

In the year one thousand eight hundred seventy-four, the thirteenth of April

at nine o'clock in the morning, Before Us, Paul ..., Deputy-Mayor

of the town of Courcelles, Province of Hainaut,

came Leopold Joseph BARRE, forty years old, glassworker, living in Courcelles,  

who told us that

the night before last, at six o'clock in the evening was born in this town,

of him and of Florentine DELVIGNE, his wife,

a male child whom he presented to us and to whom he gave

the names of Jean Baptiste.

The said declaration and presentation were witnessed by

Jean Baptiste HABRY (?), twenty years old, glassworker and

Alfred BRINAUX, twenty-seven years old, both living in Courcelles.

After the reading of the document, the father and the witnesses signed with Us.
