Translation (English)

"In the year one thousand eight hundred fifteen, on the eight of February at four o'clock in the afternoon, before Us Mayor, civil officer of the town of Huppaye Molembais, came Noel Ferdinand POTTIER, day laborer living in Noville-sur-Mehaigne, born in the same place on the twenty fourth of December one thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight, the son of Jean Joseph POTTIER, deceased in the latter town on the eleventh of February one thousand eight hundred ninety-one as stated in the record given to us by the mayor of Noville-sur-Mehaigne, here annexed, and of the late Marie Francoise DAVIN, whose death is attested to by the witnesses here present, and Victoire Joseph BERGER, born in Huppaye on the twenty-fourth of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five, there living, twenty years old, minor daughter of Jacques BERGER, who died in Huppaye on the fifteenth of September one thousand eight hundred and seven, and of marie Elisabeth PARIS, still living, here present and consenting, living in Huppaye who asked me to proceed with the marriage planned between them and for which the bans were published on Sunday January twenty-ninth and Sunday February fifth, one thousand eight hundred and fifteen in Huppaye and in Noville-sur-Mehaigne.

No opposition was made to the marriage, giving right to their demand and after reading Chapter VI of the Civil Code and after producing a document that there was nothing impeding this wedding, we asked both the futur groom and the future bride if they wanted to take each other as man and wife, each having answered separately and affirmatively , declared that in the name of the law, Noel Ferdinand POTTIER and Victoire Joseph BERGER are united by the bonds of matrimony.

From which we wrote the present document in the presence of Jacques joseph RENARD,..., thirty six years old, of Charles Joseph SINTRON, farmer in Huppaye, twenty-three years old, of Pierre Joseph GRAMME, day laborer in the same town, about fifty-four years old and of Jean Joseph MOTOULLE, day laborer of Huppaye, forty-six years old who signed with us except for the bride and groom and Marie Elisabeth PARIS who said they did not know how to write."
